PADI Open Water Diver Training Course.

Open water diving in swimming poolBefore your course commences you will be given your crew pack, which contains your manual and various other items.

The manual is divided into modules and at the end of each module there is a knowledge review. You will need to read the manual and complete the knowledge reviews (photocopies are supplied so that you do not have to remove them from your manual).

It is advisable to read the modules before attending the classroom session that relates to that module. Completed knowledge reviews should be handed in before taking the written exam.

At the end of the academic part of the course is a 50-question exam on the theory that you have learnt. It isn't difficult but you do need to have read the manual. A pass mark is 38 or above but if you score less than 38 you will have to retake the exam.
Any questions you answered incorrectly will be explained to you at the end of your exam. In your crew pack is a starter pack for your diving logbook. Please fill the logbook in with your basic information and fill in the dates of the academic pool or open water sessions. These will need to be signed by your instructor at the end of the course.

It is very important that you attend all academic, pool and open water sessions, as if you miss any of them it is very difficult for us to catch you up with the rest of the group. All of the academic and pool sessions have to be completed before the open water session.

Please arrive on time at all sessions.

During the pool sessions it is advisable to wear a T-shirt or wet suit to stop the diving equipment rubbing. At the first pool session you will be required to swim 200 meters of the pool and tread water for ten minutes, for this you are not allowed to wear wet suits so please make sure you have suitable swimwear underneath.

In the pool you will put your skills into practice that you have read about in the manual and then seen in the video. If you have been considering learning to dive while on holiday, we can still help you.

You can do the academic and pool sessions with Aquanaut before you go, avoiding having to spend your holiday time in the classroom and swimming pool. You can complete these sessions with us and we give you a referral form valid at any PADI Dive Centre that you may choose for up to six months.
